Ecology and Climate

Vancouver is one of Canada's warmest cities in winter and one of the coolest in summer compared to all other major metropolitan cities. Vancouver was a temperate rain forest due to its vegetation though many trees and plants that grow there today were imported from other areas. One of the most common is the Japanese cherry tree, which lines many streets throughout the city. They bloom in early spring each year and are celebrated by the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.
